Celebrating!

I have been so excited about law school and last night we went out to celebrate.

Right before dinner at the yard house!

Then today we took a boat ride on the intercoastal to West Palm and Peanut Island. My sister is visiting and brought her dog too, so we all had a great time on the boat!

Lane loved the boat!

Big Things

BIG things are happening for me right now. I just found out yesterday that I got into Regent University School of Law. I am beyond excited to start this new chapter in my life!

Isn't it beautiful? The idea of starting in just a few months has gotten me thinking about what I'll need to be prepared for classes and long study nights. Here are some of my back to school favorites, which I think are appropriate for anyone going back to school this year!

The Cole Haan tote bag looks both spacious and cute! I have definitely always preferred to use a tote bag for carrying around books or my computer and this bag fits the bill. I love that the colors will transition well from summer (I start at the end of July!) to fall.

These have to be the cutest ear buds I have ever seen. I love how colorful they are! I will definitely be using these while in the library studying to keep me focused.

I love everything from See Jane Work. Having pretty things on my desk not only makes me feel more put together but it encourages me to stay organized.

Luckily I have plenty of time to get myself organized with school/studying supplies. Does anyone have any suggestions for an awesome planner?

Happy Memorial Day!

Lane and I got festive for Memorial Day (wearing Lilly of course)! I am so thankful to those that are serving and have served...truly something to celebrate!

What did you all do to celebrate Memorial Day?

Currently Obsessed...

It's Sunday again and time for another "Currently Obsessed"!

(Clockwise from top left)

1. Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Balm- I got this sample in this month's birchbox (I can't wait to share my next one with everybody!) and I'm seriously obsessed. It is tinted enough to add a little something but it is very subtle for a girl like me that doesn't normally wear any lip products. Plus it makes my lips super soft and smells pretty!
2. Williams-Sonoma Kitchenware- I spotted these blue kitchen tools last time I was in the store and I couldn't pass them up! As i said before, my dream kitchen is blue and yellow, so these will blend perfectly. I love the different shades of blue. I also have a matching WS apron!
3. Maroon and Orange Jack Rogers- I was SO excited when these came in the mail. Orange and Maroon are my school colors and I can't wait to wear these for football games in the fall!
4. The Cruisey- This is by far my most exciting find in a while. A coozie attached to a long set of croakies? I can't even try to resist! I used mine in the pool this weekend and can't wait to try it out on the boat.
5. Fine By Me (by Andy Grammer)- Ever since I heard this song a few weeks ago I have been playing it on repeat. I love listening to it in the car on my way to work in the morning to put me in a good mood.

What are you obsessed with this week?

Perfect Summer Tunes

With Memorial Day just around the corner, summer is "officially" about to start (although it has been summer here in south Florida since well....forever). I decided it was time to start working on a go-to summer playlist. Once the weather gets hot, beach days are a common occurrence, dining al fresco is a must, and life moves outside. I've created a pretty mellow summery mix that I think fits the season just right!

1. Banana Pancakes- Jack Johnson
2. In the Summertime- Mungo Jerry
3. Build Me Up Buttercup- The Foundations
4. Knee Deep- Zac Brown Band
5. Wasting Time- Jack Johnson
6. Learning to Fly- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
7. Amber- 311
8. No Rain- Blind Melon
9. Born and Raised (Reprise)- John Mayer
10. Wildflowers- Tom Petty
11. American Honey- Lady Antebellum
12. Never Let You Go- Third Eye Blnd
13. Pura Vida- Braddigan
14. Stay (Wasting Time)- Dave Matthews Band
15. One Headlight- The Wallflowers

Does anyone else have any summer music favorites?

Made with love

Not too long ago I found this recipe box at TJ Maxx and I have been busy copying my favorite recipes from my mom. The problem? I've run out of the recipe cards that came with the box! Instead of using boring old note cards, I turned to etsy for some ideas.

Here are some of my favorites:

I would customize these to match the recipe box (my dream kitchen is blue and yellow!) but I love that they have plenty of room to write. The measuring spoon detail is too cute.

I already love the colors and the nautical theme of these cards. They are definitely different than any other recipe card I've ever seen with the anchor cutout.

I have a cornflower blue (monogrammed!) kitchenaid mixer that perfectly matches the stand mixer graphic on these cards. So cute! I'm warming up to the idea of a printable set of cards because I can print them over and over and never run out!

Which is your favorite? Does anyone else use pretty recipe cards?

Puppies and Bowties

I'm totally in love with Southern Proper bowties and since I can't really wear them myself, buying them for Lane to wear is the next best thing. Seriously, how cute is she? I'm dying to get her a light blue botton blosson bowtie next to match my belle band!

Decisions, decisions

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner and, like any holiday, I can't wait to get festive! I already have a cute outfit picked out (pics to come!) so I just need to pick the right sweet treat to make. I found both of these on Pinterest and they are both so cute I can't decide!

Memorial Day weekend and cookouts go hand in hand! These cupcakes are just darling and the combination of cupcake and brownie sounds delish! However, I LOVE icing, and these are lacking a bit in that department.

These are seriously festive. However, I'm not a huge fan of ice cream cakes or marshmallow icing, so I would make a batch of blue colored vanilla batter for the blue part and then a simple buttercream. I can't get over how cute these would be though!

Which ones would you rather see at a Memorial Day gathering?

Also, I'm huge John Mayer fan and his new album came out today. I'm loving the folky, chill vibe. It is definitely a different sound than his previous albums, but I love it! This one is my favorite so far:

Thanks for reading!

Pretty Little Things: Gold Bangles

I have always been more of a silver girl when it comes to jewelry, but lately I have been loving gold bracelets. Most of my "everyday" pieces are silver, but I have slowly but surely started adding some pretty gold costume jewelry to my collection. Here are some of my favorites!

I have seen a ton of expensive versions of this bracelet. This one is super affordable and supports small businesses (I LOVE etsy, but that is a different post for another day!). I bought this last week and can't wait to get it!

This little bangle is too cute! It comes in a bunch of colors and is a perfect mixture of simple and chic. This is definitely going on my wish list.

I love all things nautical, so this Lilly bangle really caught my eye. It is not too large and simple enough to add to any stack!

This bracelet is totally eye-catching. I especially love the yellow and turquoise!

This is my newest find from Francesca's Collection. I love that the bracelets didn't come attached so I can wear as many or as few as I'd like. Plus, who can resist the adorable ric-rac design?

Is anyone else totally on a gold kick this summer?

On another note, I logged on today to see that I had a couple followers! It's nice to know that I'm not just talking to myself anymore. I am so excited that you all are interested in what I have been writing about so far...I appreciate it so much!

Currently Obsessed...

I'm going to try to do this kind of post once a week (hopefully every Sunday!) of things I'm loving right this moment.

(Clockwise from top left:)
1. Paper Straws- I found these at Francesca's Collection and thought they would go perfectly with mason jar cocktails. I will definitely be using these Memorial Day weekend!
2. New Lilly Dress- I found this super cute patchwork shift with swatches of all the prints from summer. Love!
3. Homemade Sangria- I was inspired by the delicious sangria I had on Thursday night, so I made my own version. I cut up some oranges and strawberries and filled a mason jar about 3/4 full of sparkling white wine and 1/4 full of sprite zero. Add a little ice and you have a refreshing, summery sangria!
4. Beach Days with Lane- One of the greatest things about living here is our super dog friendly, off leash dog beach in Jupiter. Lane loves going on walks and digging in the sand!
5. Wax Seal- I found this kit buried in my closet from high school and decided to give it a try again. Wax seals make a letter feel so old school and polished!

It's the weekend!

My weekend starts on Thursday as soon as I get out of work, so I usually like to do something fun and low key to kick off the weekend. Last night I went to Rocco's Tacos in Palm Beach Gardens for dinner and it did not disappoint.

Sangria and tabletop guacamole - perfect start to the weekend!

Today I was in a crafty/baking mood, so I decided to whip up some pretty pink and green cupcakes!

Aren't they darling? I cheated and used funfetti box mix (you can NOT go wrong with funfetti) mixed with green food coloring gel and then I whipped up some homemade buttercream. Box cake mixes are easy and taste great, but I think adding a homemade touch makes them just perfect!

Buttercream Icing:
2 sticks (1 cup) butter- softened
3 and 1/2 cups confectionary sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp milk
Optional-food coloring

This recipe is easy-peasy. Just whip together the softened butter, sugar and salt until fluffy. Add the vanilla and milk and you have a tasty homemade buttercream that is sure to impress!

Happy Weekend!

First Post

So it has been a personal goal of mine for a long time to start a blog and actually keep up with it. I have SO many blogs that I love reading on a regular basis, so I decided to finally take the plunge. I'm still not totally sure what my posts will entail, but I've picked up so many things from reading other blogs that I would love to incorporate. Mostly it will be about sharing things I love, pinterest projects, and of course photos of my adorably photogenic puppy.

The inspirations for my blog! Lilly & Lane!!
